Andrea
 Ortiz, OTD, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist with Mapleton OT. She provides early intervention and clinic based services in English and Spanish. Andrea has experience providing occupational therapy services in schools, outpatient pediatrics, and community mental health. She loves working with pediatric clients. Her practice is collaborative, creative, and deeply rooted in affirmin neurodiversity. Andrea understands that all clients have the right to direct their therapy services in a way that makes sense for them personally.  Her goal in delivering occupational therapy services is to facilitate meaningful participation in the activities that are most valued by her clients. 

Andrea’s areas of interest and additional training include: 

  • Sensory processing and integration
  • Handwriting and fine motor difficulties
  • Neurorehabilitation
  • Executive function and functional cognition

Andrea is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a minor in Education. She completed her doctoral degree for Occupational Therapy at Midwestern University in May 2022. At Midwestern University, she conducted research exploring the impact of occupational participation and quality of life for individuals who identify as physically disabled. In addition, Andrea partnered with a community mental health agency and developed a community reintegration program for individuals transitioning out of institutional care.

In her free time, Andrea loves hiking, reading, and spending time with loved ones. She has two dogs and a cat that bring her endless entertainment and joy. She has a regular meditation practice.

April Monroe

April Monroe
, COTA/L, is a mother and occupational therapy assistant who received her education in Peublo, Colorado. In addition to her education as an occupational therapy assistant, she also has an extensive education in nutrition, meditation, and is a certified yoga instructor and personal trainer. April draws on her diverse experience for a holistic approach to help the families she works with to find balance. 

April has worked with people from all life stages in a variety of settings including schools, assisted living facilities, rehabs, skilled nursing, home health, mental health facilities, and outpatient pediatrics. 

April’s expertise includes:

  • Sensory processing
  • Picky eating
  • Emotional regulation
  • Reflex integration
  • Visual motor skills

Early intervention with April is flexible and adaptable. She knows every family is different and every day is different. April is here to support you on this journey
